Doug Matthews

A career focused on enhancing government effectiveness through open and active community engagement, partnerships and communication. Currently helping to build a transformative culture at the City of Grand Rapids as Chief Administrative Officer overseeing HR, IT, Customer Service, Innovation, Legislative Affairs, Equity and Engagement, Events, Communications, Sustainability and Performance Management.

Particularly interested in innovation leadership, cultural transformation, development of strategic public/private/nonprofit partnerships to solve wicked problems, neighborhood-based engagement and problem-solving, and human-centered design and process improvement. Currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Innovation and Festival of the Arts.

Personally, I'm the son of public servants...a Police Chief and a Registered ER Nurse. I live in the woods with my wife, two daughters, two dogs, and four goats.
